Laura Harris

Laura Harris is a percussionist and educator based in Melbourne who completed her Bachelor of Music with honours in 2017 at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
She is passionate about education with extensive experience working as both an instrumental tutor and Education Support worker in primary schools in Perth and Melbourne.
Laura began her tertiary study at the University of Melbourne before moving to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2015. During her time at WAAPA, Laura was awarded the Norman Archibald Prize for Percussion.
As a percussionist in the Australian Youth Orchestra, she has toured across Europe and Asia as well performing with AYO’s Momentum Ensemble 2018 and 2019 which engaged in educational projects in special schools in both Victoria and South Australia.
Laura has been a part of the Kaboom Percussion team since 2017, working in a number of roles including administration support, tutoring students at the annual Kaboom Summer School and behind the scenes work on many of Kaboom’s YouTube videos.
Laura’s other performance highlights include working with the Perth Symphony Orchestra, the City of Perth Thundercorps, playing in the Rose Bowl Parade in Los Angeles, performing live on ABC radio, and in numerous musicals at the Regal Theatre.
